David Byrne - Music and Architecture

In this engaging video presentation, artist and musician (co-founder of Talking Heads) David Byrne explores how music has adapted to venues—the architecture and acoustics developed over the last several hundred years.

But is it the music that has adapted, or has a more symbiotic evolution taken place? Surely acoustic design and audio technologies have also contributed to progress in music, enabling and encouraging new sounds, new techniques, and new textures.

In fact, sophisticated technologies are continually applied to meet audio requirements in halls that increasingly serve multiple purposes and audiences. In some instances these range from chamber music through symphony and Broadway to symposia and lectures.
